1. Data controller
The data controller for the personal data processed through HeyArgo is:
- Name: Valentino Arcuri
- Address: Arcore (MB), Italy
- Email: support@heyargo.app
As the data controller, Valentino Arcuri determines the purposes and means of processing your personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), the Italian Privacy Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003 as amended by Legislative Decree 101/2018) and any other applicable data protection legislation. For requests regarding privacy, personal data or account deletion you can write to the email address above.
2. Account data
HeyArgo lets you sign in with Sign in with Apple. Apple may provide an account identifier and, if you authorize it, your name and email address. If you choose “Hide My Email”, HeyArgo receives the relay address provided by Apple.
Firebase Authentication uses this data to create and maintain your session. HeyArgo does not receive your Apple Account password and does not process full payment card details.
3. Content on device and iCloud
The following content is saved on the device and, if you are signed in and iCloud is enabled, synced to your private iCloud space (Apple CloudKit), so you can find it on your devices and after reinstalling:
- personal profile name, tagline and photo;
- pet profile, including name, species, sex, breed, birth date, weight, microchip, primary veterinarian and photo;
- reminders, repeat preferences, identifiers of Calendar events and local notifications;
- pet diary, selected mood, health records, notes, due dates, allergies, visits, medications, vaccines and attached documents;
- walk summaries with date, duration, steps, distance, GPS usage, GPS route (track coordinates, when recorded), the weight you entered and estimated calories for you or your pet;
- the daily “Today” plan and routine checklist, including completed or snoozed activities, their notes, the consecutive-day count (streak) and daily recaps;
- veterinarians saved as favorites (name, address, phone and location);
- preferences, progress, free quotas and feature state of the app.
This content is not uploaded to our servers or to Firebase, is not published in any community and is not visible to other users. Syncing happens exclusively through your private iCloud (Apple CloudKit): only you can access it with your Apple ID, while HeyArgo has no access to the synced content. Syncing requires iCloud to be enabled on the device and can be managed or turned off in iOS Settings. This content may also be included in Apple-managed backups, depending on your settings.
4. Location, motion and maps
- Nearby veterinarians: location is used while the app is in use to search via MapKit and show results in your area.
- Walks: after consent, Motion & Fitness counts steps and distance; GPS can improve distance and show the route in progress.
- History: if a walk uses GPS, the route coordinates are saved with the summary, only locally on the device, so you can review the route map. They are not collected in the background or uploaded to servers.
HeyArgo does not request location in the background. Permissions can be changed at any time in iOS Settings.
5. Camera, photos, documents, calendar and notifications
- Camera: used only when you choose "Take photo" to capture a photo of a report or document to attach to a health entry. The photo is saved locally in the app's area and, if iCloud is on, synced to your private space. Permission is requested on first use and can be revoked in Settings.
- Photos and documents: the system picker lets you choose one or more profile images or files (PDFs and images) for the health folder, including attaching multiple reports to a single entry. They are copied locally into the app's area.
- Calendar: on request, HeyArgo creates and removes events linked to reminders managed in the app.
- Notifications: reminder alerts are local notifications scheduled on the device.
6. Apple Intelligence and generated content
On compatible devices, quizzes and some nutritional estimates use the Apple Intelligence models available in the system. The text you enter for these features and the generated responses are processed on the device and are not sent by HeyArgo to Firebase.
Image creation via Image Playground, when available, is handled by Apple system features. Processing carried out directly by Apple is governed by the applicable Apple terms and policy.
7. Firebase and technical data
HeyArgo uses the following Google Firebase services:
- Authentication: sign-in and account management;
- Remote Config: configuration of content such as tips and breeds;
- Analytics: we collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (for example which features are used and how often) solely to understand how the app is used and improve it. We do not sell or share this data and do not use it for advertising. You can disable collection at any time in Account > Preferences and privacy > “Anonymous analytics”.
HeyArgo does not use this data for personalized advertising, does not sell personal data and does not track across apps and websites of other companies.
8. Subscriptions
HeyArgo Premium is managed through StoreKit and the App Store. The app checks with Apple whether a valid subscription exists in order to enable Premium features. Payment, renewal, receipts, cancellation and refunds are handled by Apple under App Store rules.
9. Purposes and legal bases
Under the GDPR, we process your data on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): authentication, management of your profile and the requested features, syncing of Premium status and support, necessary to provide the HeyArgo service you have requested.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): ensuring the security and integrity of our infrastructure, preventing abuse and fraud, and processing anonymous usage analytics and crash diagnostics to fix bugs and improve the app.
- Compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR): fulfilling any legal obligations that may apply to the controller.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): optional access to location, motion, calendar, notifications, camera, photos and documents, and data you provide voluntarily. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
10. Providers and transfers
- Google Firebase: authentication, remote configuration and diagnostics. See the Firebase privacy and security information.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, iCloud and CloudKit (syncing your data across your devices in your private space), iCloud Backup, StoreKit, MapKit, notifications, calendar and system features. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Providers may also process data outside the European Economic Area, applying the safeguards required by applicable law.
11. Retention and deletion
- Local content stays on the device until it is deleted or the app is removed.
- Firebase account data remains while the HeyArgo account is active.
- Diagnostic data follows the retention periods configured by Firebase.
- Purchase and subscription data is retained by Apple.
From Account > Delete account you must authenticate again with the same Apple Account. HeyArgo first revokes the Sign in with Apple authorization, then deletes the Firebase user and finally removes from the device the profile, photo, pet profile, reminders, linked events, notifications, walks, diary, health folder, documents and favorite veterinarians.
If the Apple revocation fails, the process stops and the account is not deleted, so you can try again or contact support. Deleting the account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription.
12. Your rights
Where provided by law, you can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or objection to processing. You can withdraw a consent from iOS Settings and lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority. To exercise your rights, write to the contact indicated in section 1.
13. Minors
HeyArgo is not intended for the independent registration of children under 14 and does not knowingly collect personal data of minors without the authorization of those with parental responsibility.
14. Security and changes
Reasonable measures are taken to protect data, but no system can guarantee absolute security. This policy may be updated when features or services change. The date of the last change is shown at the top of the page.
